The Evansville police plan to file a larceny charge against the man who walked away from the Casper Re-entry Center's custody on Wednesday morning and was caught in Kansas, Evansville Police Chief Zack Gentile said.

Levi Joseph George, 29, is suspected of stealing a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am from M and M Auto in Evansville.

Kansas State Patrol caught George on Wednesday afternoon in Sherman County, Kan., which borders Colorado, the Natrona County Sheriff's Department reported. He also faces felony escape charges, the sheriff's department reported.

The walk-away occurred after George asked to be taken to the Wyoming Medical Center. When his handler went to the bathroom, George left the hospital at 10:45 a.m.

George had moved to the re-entry center on Monday. He was convicted of two counts of possession of methamphetamine, driving with a suspended license and a domestic violence assault, according to the Sheriff's Department.
