CHEYENNE -- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will be in Jackson Wednesday for a private fundraiser and a public meeting with supporters, Wyoming GOP Executive Director Amy Larimer said Friday.

Romney had previously been reported to be visiting Jackson on Tuesday. Another presidential hopeful still plans to be in Jackson that day.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Democrat, will fly into Jackson Tuesday evening for a fund-raiser and press availability. He will fly out the same day, said Matt Feldman of Richardson's campaign communications staff.

Feldman said more details would be available later.

Romney will meet Wyoming voters and the press from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at the 49ers Inn. He also will hold a fund-raiser that is closed to the press, said Sarah Pompeii of Romney's campaign staff.

Romney and Richardson will be the first 2008 Republican presidential candidates to visit the state. Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, won last weekend's Iowa Republican Party straw poll.

Wyoming Republicans voted last spring to hold their presidential primary the same day as New Hampshire's. The New Hampshire secretary of state has yet to set a date for that state's primary, traditionally the first in the nation.
