Highland Park Community Church is offering a new class and workshop series to help blended families cope with their challenges, according to a news release. These include the stress between spouses and stepchildren and between parents from previous marriages.

Second marriages are more likely to end in divorce than first marriages, and the church hopes to help families deal with issues before they lead to divorce.

The class, "Seven Steps to Stepfamily Success," starts Wednesday, Sept. 12. There will be nine sessions, each from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

The sessions are led by stepfamily mentor couples who have navigated the challenges of combining two families. Classes are available to anyone in the community regardless of church affiliation. Child care is available.

For information call The Healing Place at 265-3977, Bev and Eldon at 235-3172, or Chris and Jerry at 237-5221.
