Volunteers help with taxes

Several free tax preparation sites where seniors can get help filing their taxes opened around the state Friday.

They will continue to serve low- and middle-income taxpayers until April 15, when taxes are due.

AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be at several sites in Buffalo, Cheyenne, Cody, Greybull, Guernsey, Laramie, Powell, Riverton, Sheridan, Torrington, Wheatland and Worland.

People from the IRS' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will be in Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette, Jackson Powell and Rock Springs. The VITA program is for low- and middle-income people of all ages.

IRS sites in Casper include Casper College and the Casper Senior Center. Volunteers will be available Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon at Casper College. They will be available Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon at the senior center.

Families bring birth document to Casper

Several Casper couples will show "The Business of Being Born," a documentary about the way American women have babies, at the Natrona County Library at 7 p.m. on Monday.

The documentary looks at whether or not most births be viewed as a natural life process or that every delivery be treated as a potentially catastrophic medical emergency.

Agents arrest child pornography suspect

Authorities have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of possession child pornography, a Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation official said Monday.

Flint E. McCullough was arrested after agents who suspected he was downloading child pornography served a search warrant at his home last Wednesday, said Kebin Haller, deputy director for DCI.

He remained held Monday at Natrona County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
