The man credited with creating the shock rock genre, Alice Cooper, will play at the Casper Events Center on Aug. 12.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Cooper has recorded 30 albums and produced some of the most famous rock songs ever recorded, including "I'm Eighteen," "School's Out," and "No More Mr. Nice Guy."

Born Vincent Furnier, Cooper has utilized guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood and boa constrictors in his shows, and his music has veered into several rock styles -- conceptual, hard, pop and industrial. His most recent music, critics say, indicates Cooper has returned to his garage rock roots.

"I always treated Alice as a dignified criminal, like Hannibal Lecter," he said in a release announcing the concert. "Lecter would never lower himself to use bad language. Alice was always too much of an elegant gentleman. He wouldn't swear ... but he'd slit your throat."

Tickets for the concert go on sale at 10 a.m. on June 21.

Due to activities associated with the College National Finals Rodeo, camping will not be permitted prior to the sale on the Events Center grounds.

All seats are reserved and cost $32.50, $39.50 and $49.50, plus service fees.
