The Casper College Tate Geological Museum's annual fundraiser, the Tate Garden Walk -- "Porches, Gardens, and Trees" happens from 2 to 6 p.m. today and features seven gardens from the South Wolcott historical district of Casper.

The Garden Walk Information Center will be located at 108 E. 10th St. The home, owned by Doran and Nancy Boston, will serve as the location for each person to receive their special garden walk brochure, containing information about the seven featured gardens and the history of other homes in the area.

Tickets are $20 per person with children admitted for free. Tickets are available at Field Creek 104, Johnny Appleseed Greenhouse, Galles Greenhouse, Meadow Acres Greenhouse, The Nicolaysen Art Museum, Blue Heron Books and Espresso, Simply Sheila, Wind City Books, Herbadashery, and the Tate Geological Museum.

"The event will invite people to park their cars and meander through one of Casper's oldest neighborhoods," said Laurie Fletcher, Tate Geological Museum board member. "Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions in each of the seven spectacular gardens that will be featured in this year's event. All are within easy walking distance of the others."

In keeping with the old-fashioned theme, neighborhood children plan to offer lemonade along the route, according to Jane Sullivan, garden walk chairwoman.

"I think it is going to be great fun; folks will see some different gardens, take a pleasant walk, view lovely porches, and learn a bit about some of the beautiful old trees in the neighborhood," said Sullivan.

All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Tate Geological Museum Endowment Fund.
