RMOTC hosts European architects

The Teapot Dome oilfield, located south of Midwest and operated as the Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center, is known as a world-renowned test site for oilfield and renewable energy technologies. Operators of the site will move into a new realm of research when they hosts three forward-looking designers from Europe for a public presentation on their work in the area of global trends in architecture and sustainable actions.

A public presentation, titled "Models of Transition," is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission building, 2211 King Blvd., in Casper.

Daniel Lipschits, the primary presenter, is director of project development for artecoop, an international design organization which provides access to innovative experts, models and technologies working for transition to a sustainable energy future.

Artecoop, described as a combination of art, technology, ecology and cooperation, is interested in testing several energy technology concepts in the challenging weather at Teapot Dome, including helium-filled photovoltaic arrays, self-sustainable urban housing units and decentralized energy distribution.

Wednesday's program will cover the importance of consumer and community-based initiatives, examine integrated local infrastructures in renewable energy, water collection and solid waste treatment, and discuss sustainability versus transition.

College offers CLA/CP prep class

A class for individuals wishing to take the Certified Legal Assistant/Certified Paralegal exam will be offered at Casper College beginning Sept. 18.

The class will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays through Nov. 13.

The "Beats" Film and Discussion

The Natrona County Public Library's book discussion about the "Beat" generation of the 1950s and '60s concludes Tuesday with a film.

The film will be about the beatniks and be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Crawford room. It is free and open to the public, and a discussion follows.

Board schedules retreat

The Natrona County School Board of Trustees has scheduled a board retreat from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the Sun Room at the Casper Petroleum Club.

Discussion topics will include "the board's interest around enrollment," according to a release from the district.
