The Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Centre may be soon be sold.

The potential buyers, Amidee Capital Group, LLC, are "anticipating a closing," said Judith Cook, the group's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Amidee Wyoming, LLC, a division of Houston-based Amidee Capital, applied for a resort liquor license through the city in November.

The Casper City Council recently set a public hearing for the liquor license application for Dec. 16.

Stephen Bennett, the president of Commercial Services Inc., the company working with Amidee on the project, said the sale is "under contract."

The council will also hold a public hearing to discuss transferring the current retail liquor license from the Parkway Plaza to a downtown office.

According to a memo from Administrative Services Director V.H. McDonald, that retail license will be non-operational until future notice.

If approved, this will become the second of Casper's 35 liquor licenses to be out of use. By law, the owner is given two years with an optional third year before the license must be sold, used or transferred.

The Parkway Plaza is listed for sale on the real estate company's Web site for $9 million. It has nearly 300 rooms, more than a dozen separate meeting rooms and a convention center.

Patrick Sweeney, the Parkway Plaza's owner, declined to comment.

A hotel is considered eligible for a resort liquor license if it can, among other things, sleep at least 100 people and has a $1 million investment.

Amidee Capital Group owns properties in several states including Texas, New Mexico and New York. It recently purchased the Hotel Niagara in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and, according to the Houston Business Journal, planned a $15.2 million renovation on the historic hotel.

Officials said they plan to close the Parkway deal soon.

" The willing, giving spirit of Pat Sweeney with his community involvement and support shown by the way he has managed the Parkway will be sorely missed in this area.
Anyone in need has known Pat because he has been there with assistance of some sort.
Thank you for all your years of dedication to the community and the people in it Pat Sweeney- you will be a rock hard act to follow! "
